At least 11 individuals were transported to hospitals Sunday night following a reported shooting near Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, authorities confirmed. The incident unfolded in Little River, a community roughly 30 minutes north of the popular coastal city, according to a statement from the Horry County Police Department.

Officials described the event as “an apparent shooting incident” and noted that additional victims may have arrived at area hospitals on their own. Just 40 minutes after the initial emergency response, police classified the situation as an “isolated incident” and emphasized that there was no ongoing threat to the public.

Details surrounding the victims’ conditions remain unclear, and authorities have yet to confirm whether there were any fatalities. However, North Myrtle Beach city spokeswoman Lauren Jessie disclosed that a responding police officer accidentally discharged his weapon, injuring his own leg. The officer was reported to be in stable condition.

The scene of the investigation centered around a docked vessel in the Watson Avenue area, identified as the Hurricane II party boat. Horry County officials were seen conducting inquiries onboard, as reported by The Sun News.

In a message to the public, law enforcement urged residents and media to rely on verified sources for updates. “Please turn to trusted sources such as this [Facebook] page and local news outlets for updates—we cannot attest to the validity of other sources,” the department posted.

As investigators continue to piece together the timeline and motive, residents in the area remain on edge, even as officials reassure that the danger has passed.
